“STOMACH ACHE FROM THE BAD MUSIC”

As we were cruising the aisles of the Walmart in a neighboring city, we noticed music over the speaker was a little louder than it usually was, and the type of music playing was a little edgier than what was normal. None of us commented on it, but we all felt it. After our errands were finished and we had sat down at the dinner table later that night, Hanson looked up and asked, “Mom, was Walmart playing bad music?.” Being my most sensitive child I could see that he was visibly perturbed. I answered his question in the affirmative but preceded to explain to him why it’s offensive to the spirit, and the absence of the spirit after he heard that kind of music– was what he was feeling. We talked about what Prophets and Apostles have said about music being loud, and also how the beat is offensive to the Spirit and (extensive studies show) damaging to our brains. Alivia then piped in and asked if we could make sure our Hymns are on a little extra this week so she wouldn’t have such a stomach ache from the bad music (lol).

These are some of my most treasured moments as a mother! I love learning the Gospel with my family and I love teaching them that God really does have an opinion on these matters.

Your blog has quickly become one of my all-time favorites! I just love it!! I dream about living off the land, in a slower-paced lifestyle…one that encourages time with the Lord and engages my family and I In practicing resourseful skills, service and being prepared. Until that time, I have decided that we don’t need to wait.

Funny enough, it began with learning to homestead ducks. Once we learned how, our minds opened up to other things we could learn.

From there, we learned about how to make our own natural hygienic products sans all the toxic chemicals. We also learned how to make our own natural household cleansers.

Then, we decided to participate in a herbology class for homeschool. We wanted to learn together all about herbs, their uses and how to make our own salves, polstices and tinctures. Last year we studied the theory of herbology and this year we are ready to learn hands-on.

That same year, we decided to slowly increase our food and water storage, along with ER gear and supplies.

Meanwhile, I was praying for healing from a food addiction (specifically sugar and flour). I learned all I could about it and committed to a whole foods, clean-eating regimen. I am currently about two months clean of sugar, flour, and processed food. (I do eat fruit.) I have been learning healthy recipes and now I am introducing the principles of the W.O.W. to my family through our meals.

Next, I told my husband that for this Mother’s Day, all I wanted was a large garden and also an herb garden. We have been working hard together, to make this happen and now it’s a reality. So exciting! There is still so much to learn regarding gardening.

Through this journey, God has taught me and my family so much and I am truly grateful.

I noticed a shift In my home…less time with technology….more time learning, listening, and applying. What good is knowledge if you don’t share it? I decided that if I ever came back to social media, I would share (although I’d like to be more consistent.)

When you are engaged with the Lord’s errand, there is very little time for distractions and I’ve noticed less “drama” in my home. This blog has given me much to consider and ponder upon. It has pointed me time and time again to Celestial principles and inspired positive changes in my home, my famy and myself.

No, we don’t have to wait to have the experience of “homesteading” as we can begin now…right in our backyards! The things you are doing are wonderful~ and vital skills come from all of that. Keep going!
