REWARDS
One of my favorite things about having all my children live so close to me is the ability to build some really good traditions. For the last 4 years, we have gathered every month from spring to fall to work at each other’s houses on projects that need a team. You can read our story on our blog about why we started that tradition, which has blessed us dearly. Monthly we also gather for a large meal as we love using the table to connect, and so forth. This year, we decided to start a ‘another’ new tradition! It is so fun to be a mother and grandmother and to…

“ECHOING AND PROCLAIMING HIS WORDS” -WHAT DOES IT HAVE TO DO WITH CHRISTMAS!
Years ago when we decided to clean up the way we worshipped and celebrated holidays we first began by throwing out Christmas. Yep, we threw it out the door, literally. Why did we do this? In trying to figure things out, our family had turned outwards to listen to other voices. YouTube after YouTube videos of others telling us that “to celebrate Christmas was wrong.” We were disgusted with what we watched and learned, and due to our lack of knowledge of how Satan ‘can not create, but only copy;’ we dumped everything to do with the 25th—the tree, gift-giving, decorations, and so forth thinking it all was polluted. However,…

DO I HAVE FAITH LIKE ABRAHAM? THE RETURN OF THE CHRISTMAS TREE
What a journey it has been to learn the real gospel of Jesus Christ, and the closer I get, the more beautiful it is! As you know 10 years ago our family collapsed. The weight of culture and its Babylonian tentacles were all too far-reaching and with it, we came tumbling down. We decided we had to rebuild our family starting at ground zero. It has not been easy, but it has been worth it. The last years have been indescribable as so many purges have happened and tremendous growth has resulted. One of our mighty miracles is to have a child return to the gospel. There are no words…

A THANKSGIVING COLORING BOOK
One of our favorite traditions for Thanksgiving is printing this coloring book to read the story and color. It tells the story of the Pilgrims and the Puritans, and other righteous Founders of America. God fulfilled His promise to bring the lost tribes of Israel back to their homeland and we are their descendants—we are Israelites! This is our story! And we have the same charge to live in holiness on the covenant land, and to take the Gospel to every nation. Here’s a coloring book link to be able to print for your own family. Your kids or even grandkids will love it! (Credit for the coloring book belongs…

PREPARING THE HEARTS OF OUR FAMILY
For Thanksgiving, I like to prepare my family’s hearts for the season — using movies and media to help turn my family towards the covenant ‘fathers and mothers’ is powerful. We have been learning more about the significance of this day and that it can be more than just our traditional turkey and mashed potatoes, followed by a game of football, playing cards, or building gingerbread houses as it had been for some time in my family. Since movies play such an important role in reaching the heart, as feelings and emotions can be reached quicker than a book or a passed-down story, I decided to create a list of…

TO KNOW OUR FATHERS IS TO SEAL OUR HEARTS
With my oldest turning eight next year, if ready, she’ll be making sacred baptismal covenants—-covenants have really been something I’ve put a lot of thought into lately. As a parent and mother, part of my stewardship is to prepare my children for these covenants to be learned, made, and kept. Growing up, the only pocket of persecuted Christians widely talked about in The Church are the Pioneers. Many of my ancestors are pioneers with life-changing stories—-but I wish I would have grown up hearing about other covenant-keeping Christians as well. One group that I have come to love is the Scottish Covenanters. The Covenanters zealously stood for the supreme Kingship…
