WE ARE TO BE A LIGHT AND WITNESS

The Hanukiah may now have been put away until next year, candles are boxed up, but the season of “Light” has only begun. For many families, if you are like us, you have just spent time learning how God always sends someone at the darkest time to save his people and how likewise, following the example of the servant it is our responsibility to be a light in a dark and evil world. We are His “called-out ones,” called to stand out and be dedicated to His service. We are to stand courageous and strong against the ever-present powers of assimilation that endlessly seek to make us put a “bushel over our light.”

Just as Christ loved us and submitted his will unto his Father as a fragrant offering and sacrifice, how do we apply that same submission? The same sacrificial love? This season calls us to action beginning with “Am I too, willing to lay down my life for my family and friends? How do I serve and love them perfectly?”

JOB DESCRIPTION OF A SERVANT

This servant sent in the last days was to restore lost principles, he builds a pure and holy people and a house for the Lord’s return, he purifies the Church. The other role of this servant is to refine the people and earth as a fire. No man, in his natural state, is able to stand before this manifestation of God’s power. For the righteous, this fire purifies and sanctifies, preparing them to enter the presence of the Lord. For the wicked, this fire destroys and consumes all corruption in its path.

As we learned during the 8-days of Hanukah that Joseph Smith is merely the humble servant that was sent to do the will of both the Father and the Son. With Hyrum at his side jointly holding the keys, fulfilling the law as it is was given by our Lord. They stood as a witness, just as Joseph Smith is to Jesus Christ.

HOW ARE WE STANDING IN DARK TIMES?
