SCOTTISH COVENANTERS: THEIR CAUSE IS MY CAUSE

Growing up, the only pocket of persecuted Christians widely talked about in our church are the Pioneers. Many of my ancestors are pioneers with life-changing stories, and I have absolute reverence for them. But I wish I would have grown up hearing about other pockets of Christians as well. One group that I have grown to love are the Scottish Covenanters. February 28th was the anniversary of them signing the National Covenant in 1638. Essentially, the king was making changes in the church and a lot of the Christian people were upset. The covenant denounced the attempted changes, it also urged loyalty to the king, but reaffirmed that their obedience…

    SHE IS ALL HEART

This little girl and I have a lot in common as we share the same sense of humor, gestures, and love for decorating. However, she is different than me as she is all heart! When it comes to people and relationships she is constantly reminding me that there is more to life and I need to be paying more attention to details. She teaches me that others are more important! Alivia loves people and can ask a million questions, things I would have never thought of all in a space of 5 minutes just to turn around and ask another round of questions pertaining to how someone feels.  …

REMEMBERING OUR HISTORY: A DANISH THANKSGIVING

For Thanksgiving, this year our family decided to do something different. We have been learning more about the significance of this day and that it can be more than just our traditional turkey and mashed potatoes, followed by a game of football, playing cards, or building gingerbread houses as it has been for some time in my family. This year we learned something new! Israel not only came to colonize, but it was a returning to America to reestablish the covenant again on the land. This holiday is a message of that homecoming; a family being reunited after over a thousand years of separation (Nephites and Lamanites)! MOVIE CHALLENGE The…

    RECORD KEEPING IS A LAW?

I can not help but pick up an old suitcase at a thrift store. The old hinges and key locks speak of a time period long ago that carried within someone’s life travels. With my collection of vintage suitcases, I have been stashing old pictures of my ancestors and my children’s pictures in them. I thought it was a cute way to house these pictures, drawings, pedigree charts, etc. as they are from a ‘period’ long ago. A DIVINE LAW A month ago when reading in Doctrines of Salvation, by Joseph Fielding Smith, I came across a section all about journaling and the law of record keeping. I thought it was…

MOVING: RETURNING TO OUR LAND OF INHERITANCE

While we were waiting for our home to close and to begin our new journey in Manti, Utah we decided to do some family research. We wanted to know if there was an unknown reason why we were being told to move to Sanpete County as the inspiration was strong. We thought maybe there was a connection to the area that was ‘calling’ us. THAT IS CRAZY During this ‘waiting’ time for the house to close my youngest daughter was filling up her time doing baptisms. She was on an app that would generate random names from all sides of the family for her to print off and to take…
