SHE IS ALL HEART
Yesterday, my grandmother passed away. It was expected and so the death did not leave a sting, but a day of reflection. However when my granddaughter came over for lunch and Family Home Evening immediately she needed to talk about my grandmother. She needed to see pictures of her, her life, and her children. She likes to know how everyone is connected. She also became so excited to see how her great gg-grandmother had the same color dress on as her in the photo album. The most tender part of the day was when Livy came quietly over later and whispered… “Gabby, are you sad?” making sure that I was doing okay.
Sometimes the roots in a family are not driven deeper down because of pedigree chart connections or through family events and reunions…connections come when one heart connects to another through a simple sharing of feelings.

Julie Smith is the Education Director for the Joseph Smith Foundation. She is the former owner of the Glenn J. Kimber Academy in Lehi, Utah. Julie served as a regional trainer—establishing 18 schools in Arizona, Idaho, and Utah. She is a certified teacher for The Thomas Jefferson Center for Constitutional Restoration (TJC) and taught the Making of America seminars written by W. Cleon Skousen and Glenn J. Kimber. Her home is a revolving door of guests and friends as her family hosts cultural celebrations and teaching events.
