Homesteading & Gardening

IS IT A WEED, GUM, OR BOTH?

My story begins when I was about 11 years of age. One winter I struggled with pneumonia and was then hospitalized for treatment. The following year it returned leaving me again with the need for emergency care. I have always been drawn to health, herbs, and healing from foods–especially after reading the book, “Joseph Smith and Herbal Medicine“, by John Heinerman. But none of the herbs we used seemed to be working.

We called for the “Elders” (Doctrine & Covenants 42:43-44) and in a blessing, I received a strong command and If I followed it I would have a full recovery. I was told to immediately start reading the Book of Mormon and by obedience, I would receive the healing I needed. This took me by surprise, but I went to work, opened up my scriptures, and began reading. Through the power of the book, I was healed within two days. It was a miracle, and one I will never forget.

GUMWEED

I have always been prone to getting pneumonia. Recently at the end of the year 2020, signs of pneumonia were coming along with having ”Covid-19.” I was having a difficult time breathing, coughing, and shortness of breath. I feared it was coming again and that either I would need urgent care or be blessed with another miracle.

A year earlier a friend felt inspired to bring me the herb called “Gumweed” on one of her visits here to Manti. The name threw me off and I did not know if it was a weed or gum, or both. And because of not knowing, I put the bag into the cupboard never giving it another thought, and there the weed rested until now…

We took the dried plant and turned it into an herbal tea. I took Gumweed Tea twice a day and it went away within two days. Again, I had another miracle.
